A Legacy of Excellence

Romano Biondani was an Italian luthier and musician. Born in Verona, after completing his academic studies at the “Dall’Abaco” Conservatory, he joined the orchestra of what was then the “Ente Lirico Arena di Verona.” This experience eventually led him to discover—and develop a deep passion for—the world of string instruments and their construction.

He began studying lutherie as a self-taught artisan, attending several luthiers’ workshops, including that of Mario Gadda in Mantua, where he refined his skills. Biondani’s career as a luthier spanned from 1989 to 2012 and took place not only in Verona, but also, for health reasons, in the nearby Lessinia region—particularly in the towns of Cerro Veronese and Bosco Chiesanuova.

His work focused on the construction of violins and violas, using only the finest, carefully seasoned tonewoods. Thanks to this meticulous selection of materials, Biondani was able to craft instruments that stood out for their exceptional resonance, artisanal elegance, and sound quality.
